Walt Aldridge

What do Tim McGraw, Lou Reed, Alabama, Peter Cetera, Reba McEntire and Bill Haley have in common? Walt Aldridge.
Since 1977 Walt's worked as a producer, writer, artist, engineer, session singer and player on hundreds of albums in a variety of genres that have touched lives the world over.
Billboard magazine named him one of the Top Ten Country Songwriters of the year twice for Ricky Van Shelton's "I Am A Simple Man” and his group The Shooters (Aldridge wrote all their top 40 songs) were among Billboard's Top Ten New Country Artists. The Alabama Music Hall of Fame awarded Aldridge with a star in their Walk of Fame and their Musical Creator's Award.
Need more? "No Getting Over Me" was named one of ASCAP's most performed country songs. "Holding Her and Loving You" was named Song of the Year by the Nashville Songwriters' Association International.
His latest venture has been producing country band Heartland's debut for Lofton Creek Records. The first single, "I Loved Her First", blazed to the top of the charts with amazing speed. Walt gave the Swallow his personal insights into writing it….

“One of the toughest things to do is get together with a co-writer (who you sometimes are meeting for the first time) and try to find some common ground quickly to write a song about. That's the way "I Loved Her First" started for me and Elliot Park. We were meeting for the first time and getting to know each other. In fact, it was Elliot's first experience with Nashville co-writing all together. Elliot lives in Abilene, Texas and is considerably younger than me and we were making small talk that day, trying to get to know one another. I remember Elliot telling me that he had two daughters and I immediately responded that I did, too. From there we began to talk about how special daughters are and how hard it was going to be to have to watch them marry someone and to have to give them away. Elliot had a musical idea started about that very thing and we were off to the races. I have had the pleasure of hits that were bigger in sales or airplay than "I Loved Her First", but it is the one song that people continue to contact me and tell me how much it has meant to them and that they want to use it in a wedding or some other special way. Every time I play it there is always someone who is tears up in the crowd. And many of those come up and share personal stories about their fathers or daughters after my shows.”

Roxie Dean

  She’s a pressure-packed jar of Louisiana sunshine!
After a lifelong love affair with country music - as well as stints tending a farm, selling boots, coordinating events and writing hits for Lee Ann Womack, Jamie O’Neal and Tracy Lawrence - she’s ready to stake her claim.
She says honesty is one of her strongest suits- she’ll happily tell you that she’s named for one of her father’s ex-girlfriends, commenting, “You know Mama loved that! Though thankfully, she liked the name.” She says her forthrightness brings her closer to people: “Every time I say something,” she observes, “there’s always some person or other who says, ‘Oh, my gosh, I’ve done that, too!’ The power of a sincere song is that the majority of people have experienced the emotion or the moment you’re talking about, even if their facts are different.”
Roxie wrote the #1 hit “When I Think About Angels,” Jamie O’Neal, Lee Ann Womack’s “Why They Call It Falling” and “Lonely” for Tracy Lawrence but “A Soldiers Wife” is the song that defines her the most.

"I wrote it after seeing two news stories. One was a woman having to go AWOL to fight for custody of her children because she and her husband were both in Iraq. The other was a woman facing the reality of losing the family business because she couldn't run the house, raise the kids, and run the business successfully."

Wives, mothers and children of soldiers in Iraq have sent Roxie "thank you" emails and she has donated a portion of her proceeds to the Armed Forces Relief Trust/Operation "Helping Hand". “If you don’t have anything to say, you don’t have anything to write about either,” she reiterates. Somehow, she manages to find the sweetness with a grace that makes the stumbles, the jagged aches, the raw places all seem okay. “I hurt, but I also laugh and you have to be prepared for both if you wanna get out there and live.
As long as I can write it all down and share it with people through my music, I’m on my true path.” Here here- and- hear her here.

"Moose"

Yeah the Moose is Back!!!! We love “It’s 5 O’clock Somewhere” whether it's sung by Alan Jackson, Jimmy Buffett, or the man who co-wrote it- Moose himself.  The top ten hit for Darryl Worley "If Something Should Happen" is Mr. Brown’s work too.
  But wait, there’s more......
Did you know he’s plays on Ricky Skaggs album “Salt Of The Earth” which just won a Grammy for Southern Bluegrass Gospel category? He’s also on Brad Paisley’s Grammy nominated album “5th Gear”.
Moose has been nominated twice for "Piano/Keyboard Player Of The Year" by the Academy of Country Music in 2005 and 2006.
You’ve heard him playing piano/keyboards on albums by: Brad Paisley, Darryl Worley, Trace Adkins, Phil Vassar, Lila McCann, Connie Smith, Bucky Covington, Trick Pony, Ricky Skaggs, Hank Williams Jr., Rodney Atkins, Blake Shelton, Shawn Camp, Paul Overstreet, Rio Grande, Chris Cummings, and (many) others.
Moose has played on the movie soundtracks of "Varsity Blues" and the Disney "Cars". Oh yeah, last but obviously not least, he’s traveled with the legendary Bob Seger as part of the "Silver Bullet Band" on the 2006-2007 "Face The Promise" tour playing electric guitar and keyboards.
Meet him after the show and tell him your best joke. He has a great sense of humor and may be called “Moose” but is actually a teddy bear and loves to say "hello" to fans and friends.

10:00 PM

Byron Hill…How can you not want to see a guy who writes hits like…”High Tech Redneck” (George Jones) and “Size Matters” (Joe Nichols). He’s a master of humor and a great storyteller. His hits continue with Alabama's #1 single "Born Country", "Alright Already" by Larry Stewart, "Lifestyles Of The Not So Rich And Famous" by Tracy Byrd, "If I Was A Drinkin' Man" by Neal McCoy, "Politics, Religion And Her" by Sammy Kershaw, "Nothing On But The Radio" by Gary Allan.
Byron's discography reads like the who’s who in country music-he’s on gold and platinum albums for Juice Newton, Tracy Bird, George Strait, Toby Keith, Randy Travis, Neil McCoy….and on and on.

Here's Byron's own take on his number one hit "Fool Hearted Memory"....

The song "FOOL HEARTED MEMORY" was written in a small, upstairs, southwest corner room at 1217 16th Avenue South. I had recently written and produced a track for the movie 'The Exterminator', and the same company came back to me for another song for another blood and guts thriller called 'The Soldier'. Thanks to the ingenuity of ATV Music's Gerry Teifer and MCA Records' Jim Foglesong, a deal was done that included giving a new MCA recording artist a cameo role in the movie, and a guaranteed album cut and single for us. Producer/writer Blake Mevis and his new MCA artist were perfect candidates to bring into the project. I wrote the song with Blake, he produced it, and it became a historic first number one record for George Strait and my first number one as a songwriter. Little did I know how much this song would mean to all the "hat guy" artists of the 1990's. So many of them tell me that this is one of their favorite songs. In 1981, George Strait debuted at #6 with “Unwound.” He followed that up with a #15 “Down and Out,” then hit #3 with “If You’re Thinking You Want a Stranger, finally scoring his first #1 hit with his fourth release, “Fool Hearted Memory,” in 1982.

Jenn Schott….Jennifer moved to Nashville to pursue a career as a songwriter and singer. After a few years, a few odd jobs, and many writer’s nights later, Jennifer landed her first publishing deal in 2000 and has been writing professionally ever since. She’s had songs recorded by Restless Heart, Pam Tillis, Lila McCann, Lonestar, and Josh Gracin.
In addition to performing in and around Nashville, Jennifer has also opened up shows for John Michael Montgomery, Lee Greenwood, and Brian McComas.
Jenn recently signed an exclusive songwriting publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing so you can expect more hits and award from this incredible talented lady.
In her own words here's what she had to say about "Feel My Way To You" recorded by Restless Heart:

"When Danny Orton and I got together to write "Feel My Way To You," it was only our second time to ever write. Since then, Danny has become a dear friend and one of my most regular co-writers. I remember that day we were sitting in the old Universal Music Publishing building on Music Row and Danny threw out that title. What really drew us in about this idea was that the song could really be interpreted two different ways...either being directed to someone you love trying to find a way back to them...or as someone singing to God trying find their way to Him. This was my first single, and I was in Los Angeles driving down the road with a friend when I heard it on the radio for the first time. I'll always remember how exciting that moment was!"

You’ll want to hear more...and you’ll be able to...Friday and Saturday at the Swallow.

JOHN FORD COLEY….This singer, musician, actor and author plays for a world wide audience and we are privileged to have him here on the Swallow stage.
He has produced two new Country acts in Nashville and most recently played on the bill with Lou Gramm (Foreigner), Poco, Ambrosia, and Terry Sylvester (formerly of the Hollies).
John is perhaps most famous for his work as half of the Grammy nominated duo “England Dan and John Ford Coley", where with now Country artist Dan Seals, he received Gold and Double Platinum awards.

More random Coley facts….

1. He’s written books - one describing his 28 years in a cult and the road back from it.
2. He was on the T.V. show “America’s Most Wanted”
(he played a character, not the one they were looking for)
3. Songs in films The Long Kiss Goodnight (“I’d Really Love To See You Tonight”) and DIckie Roberts Former Child Star (“Nights Are Forever Without You”)
4. John's sung with some diverse folks…...Everyone from Fleetwood Mac & Elton John to Alice Cooper to Donny Osmond to Crystal Gale.
This man’s pretty much covered all the territory and in a BIG way. This is your chance to see and hear a legend up close and personal.
Bring an old ED & JFC album for him to sign. He loves to say "hello".
